Guest Post Guidelines for Publishing 101 / Book Design Templates Newsletter and Blog

Original content only please. If you have an article that has previously been published that you think our readers might enjoy, please ask about how you can submit it to one of our roundup articles.

We will only accept guest posts from individuals in the publishing industry (writers, editors, book marketers, etc.) who have personal experience with the writing/publishing topic they're writing about. We will not accept articles from essay writing sites, online degree sites, or other industries not directly associated with writing and publishing.

Articles must have a takeaway and be helpful or problem-solving, based on experience or research and supported, where possible with links to sources. Be authentic. Let us learn from your successes—and failures! We will not accept articles where the focus is solely on promoting your own book or service. Please note: We reserve the right to refuse to publish any article without explanation.

Downloads accessed from links in your article will be hosted on our site. URLs change over time and cause dead links. This way we can ensure that the download is available for our readers for as long as the article remains on our site.

Hyperlinks included in your article should be embedded in the text. Also, please do not include your affiliate links for products or services for articles published on our site or in our newsletter.

Acceptable topics include but are not strictly limited to:

  • writing tips
  • editing
  • marketing and selling your book
  • e-books and audio books—trends, statistics, how to, etc.
  • publishing—how to, book covers, etc.
  • social media

Got another topic you think might be appropriate? Contact us.

Please provide copyright and/or source information for any images that accompany your article.

We reserve the right to lightly edit your article—organize parts of the text into bullet points, add headings, break up large paragraphs, re-title to make it shorter or for better SEO, etc.

We may ask for changes to the content of your article if we feel that would make it more appealing or informative to our readers.

Your bio for your article should include:

  • a headshot at least 150 pixels wide in .jpg or .png format
  • information about who you are, what you do, accomplishments and goals
  • up to two hyperlinks to your website, book or social media
  • You may also wish to include a quirky or interesting fact about yourself.

Articles must be submitted as either Word doc attachments or Google Drive links. Please try to keep paragraphs small, add bullet lists, headings (<h3>), etc. as these types of formatting make articles easier to read.

Please help us to promote your article when we publish it.

We ask for a 30 day exclusive on our site or in our newsletter before you republish your article. After that, if you choose to republish it, we'd love it if you'd link back to the article on our site.

Thank you in advance. We look forward to working with you and receiving your article. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to us at newsletter@bookdesigntemplates.com.
